The latest news for Everyday Kings
Everybody, meet Robert. Robert, meet everybody.
We have christened Robert as our newest Everyday King. Robert has actually been been in the Everyday Kings orbit since the beginning. He and Al (the first Al, not the second Al) were in several bands together in the middle 2000s, and Robert was a regular 'face in the crowd' at the EDK shows. When Nic quit, we courted Robert to join. When Jim moved, we courted Robert to join. When Al2...well, you get the picture. And like any good stalkers, we finally managed to wear him down.
Unfortunately the 2/11 show we were all psyched for has been postponed. Today we heard it might be March 10...we'll see.
Everyday Kings is back on the lookout for a bass player. It could be YOU.
Al2 brought some seriously great bass chops, harmonies, and ideas to our little band in the short time we were together, but at the end of the day it was clear that we were just not a good fit together. So we have decided to part amicably instead of waiting for a decent thing to turn ugly.
You can read Al2's side of the story in tomorrow's TMZ.
Jim Lorino, founding member of Everyday Kings, has been unceremoniously relocated to Denver, Colorado. Stupid day jobs! Luckily for us, he sensed the end was near, and gave us enough of a heads-up to seek and find his replacement. Meet Allen, or Al2, as we've crowned him, the newest Everyday King.
Come out to Kochanski's on November 18th and see how much Al2 has learned in 19 days.
We wish Jim the very best with his future endeavors.
On October 11, we somewhat officially released a CD entitled Expectations. This is the CD that Steve, Jim, and Al recorded in December 2010 and April 2011. We met Brian the day we finished recording the CD, and decided to sit on the final mix and see if Brian would shake out or not. Well, he's still here, so that's the good news. The other good news is that we've managed to write a whole new CD's worth of material, so there's no real incentive to have Brian add his vocals to these year-old tracks now. So instead of leaving them in the vault to rot, we mixed them up, and put out a very limited edition CD.
In other news, Steve's side project, Brother Jupiter, is putting out their second CD entitled Good Neighbor Bread on November 1. All proceeds to that CD will go to Guitars For Vets. Click here for more info on this organization.
We've just added a few more brand new originals to our growing repertoire.
For those of you playing along at home, we have now written eight new songs since we met Brian at the end of April. At this pace we'll need a quadruple 'debut' CD!
We are now on Twitter...@EverydayKings
Last weekend's gig at the Penny Road Pub went rather well. All five songs that we debuted went over well, and we are psyched about that. We won't be playing Summerfest this year, so instead we are broadening our horizons by venturing out into some new venues. We'll be at Chopper's Bar & Grill in Antioch, Illinois in July and then Rooters in Waukesha and Liquid Johnny's in West Allis in August.
Come check us out!
Life with Brian - the newest King - is going quite well so far. His debut at Frank's last month went very well, and he has proven to be a prolific lyricist thus far. In the short 4 weeks since his indoctrination, he has penned lyrics to no fewer than five new King songs which were musically complete but needed lyrics. Each tune has a different vibe than the others, and we can't wait to debut them at our next show.
Our summer is starting to fill up, with new gigs at Penny Road Pub and Liquid Johnny's.
As always, we Kings thank you for your support!
Yesterday's session at Bobby Peru's went great. We cranked out four more tunes for the CD, and polished up the tracks already "in the can". We also met the Newest King. A very cool way to spend an afternoon.
If you come out next Friday for our gig at Frank's Power Plant, maybe we'll let you meet him.
We're also going to be giving away some FREE CD's of our recent studio work, so come on down!
On April 23, we're heading back into Bobby Peru's Recording Studio to finish up our 2011 CD. We are confident that we can recreate the magic of last December when we cranked out half of the CD in one day.
We are pleased to announce that our annual "crawl out of the basement debut gig" will be Friday April 29, at Frank's Power Plant. We'll be playing with Mortgage Freeman, who are currently lighting up Milwaukee nights playing gigs all over the place. Hopefully you'll join us and help us launch 2011 on a positive note.
If you check out the MUSIC tab, you'll hear the results of our December recording session at Bobby Peru's. Four originals (Sugarfoot, Life Goes On, Son Of You, and Rock Star) plus our cover of The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again.
We're very excited with the results, and we hope you are as well. Let us know what you think!
Aside from that, the gig scene has taken a back seat to our personal lives for a while, but we're aiming for a triumphant return to the stage later this winter/early spring.
We thank you for your continued support.
What a wild year it has been. To review:
A year ago, Steve, Jim & Al decided to take a step away from Blame It On Cain and channel their creative ideas in a more constructive fashion. Son Of You, for example, was a song that was rejected by Cain, and yet its been one of our best received tunes to date. In February, we hired Nic Fugate to be the voice of Everyday Kings, and we played three great shows, including Summerfest.
Then Nic quit, and with minimal time to react before our next gig, drummer Al stepped up and took over vocal duties. We played out the summer while searching in vain for a replacement. Then at the second-last gig of the year, we met Angie, and just like that we had a new, slightly higher, voice for Everyday Kings.
2010 was the most active year we have had since we've been together, and we're hoping 2011 continues to bless us with gig opportunities. Having just completed our debut recording session at Bobby Peru Recording Studio, we have high hopes for 2011. Hopefully we will be a bit more stable in the personnel department than 2010 was. As always, we thank you all for supporting Everyday Kings and we hope to see you again soon!
Yesterday we ventured into Bobby Peru's Recording Studio in Milwaukee to lay down some official tracks of new material. Click here for the highlights.
We are proud to announce that Everyday Kings are back to being a four-piece. We welcome Angie, a.k.a. Lady Angela into the mix. She will make her stage debut at the end of our upcoming 11/5 show at Live On North.
We thank you for your continued support.
We've finished our first "edited" video...now visible on our landing page. It features a live audio recording of "Son Of You" from our 7/31/10 show at Penny Road Pub. Hope you like it.
For those who have not attended either of our past two shows, Everyday Kings is now a three-piece. Nic departed following the Summerfest gig (7/1), leaving us with a number of booked gigs and no singer. We resorted to several rounds of 'rock-paper-scissors', with no solution, then resorted to the more advanced 'rock-paper-scissor-lizard-Spock', with again no resolution. Finally we drew straws, and nominated Al to sing lead for the time being. The first two shows as a trio have gone quite well, we continue to book gigs at new venues, and the new material is flowing.
We thank you for your support.
Summerfest is fast-approaching, and as our daily lives are trying their hardest to thwart our efforts to rehearse, we're still chugging happily away. We'll be debuting a couple of new originals at The Big Gig, as well as a bunch of new covers we've never played live before. Overall we're quite pleased with the progress we've made in such a short amount of time.
Did we mention we're playing Summerfest at noon on May 1? ]:-}
We'd like to give a shout out to our colleagues of the local music scene for also landing dates at The Big Gig:
We have uploaded the entire debut show to the MUSIC tab of this web site - check it out and tell us what you think of the new stuff!
This just in...we're playing Summerfest! We will open the M&I Classic Rock Stage on Thursday, July 1, for a noon show! Technically you can say we're opening for the B-52's, as they are the M&I Stage headliner for that day!
May 1, 2010
Great show last night. Nearly 100 people came through the door to hear this new band! We're still giddy with excitement at how smooth everything went. Check out our official review in the Events Section!
New shows added to the EVENTS section:
We have expanded our BIO page to include the backstory on the name Everyday Kings.

We have booked our debut gig as Everyday Kings - Friday April 30 at the BBC with World Minus One!
We'd like to introduce Nic, our new singer. Now we can get to work polishing up all that new music we've been writing! Only this time, with words!
We'd also like to introduce our new logo, Lester
,
as well as his emoticon equivalent, Lester II, aka "The Deuce": ]:-|
