Biography

Steve Al Brian Rob

We are not The Everyday Kings, as such a title would imply that we are the only ones. In truth, everyone can be an Everyday King. Read on...

What's In A Name?

Some have questioned our name - or politely asked… Are you that arrogant? Kings? Yeah right. It is most definitely not boastful or self-centered. No braggadocio whatsoever. In fact, it is really the opposite. The name is not only about the band, but about you, me, and the other guy.

The crux / idea of the name came from American Beauty and Kings of Leon. Kings of Leon just because that seeded the idea of Kings (the members are brothers and the band is named in honor of their father, Leon). Lester - our mascot - is named after Kevin Spacey's character in American Beauty. Lester's closing monologue somewhat sums it all up for us:

You will someday… EVERYDAY

Everyday we experience new challenges, emotions, triumphs, failures, and disappointments as we travel through our lives - but we are masters of our destiny - good, bad, or indifferent. We lead. We follow. We succeed. We serve. We fail. We recover. We find ourselves in places we never dreamed; some we planned; wishes we never wanted. Never envisioning the joy, sorrow, and volatility of life. But we persevere - we show up everyday - whether tragic or triumphant; proud or pitiful; iconic or ironic.

We reign over our kingdoms - big or small, happy and sad; meaningful to us, foolish to others; searching for purpose and fulfillment of our dreams. We reign over our lives, our loves, our dreams.

Everyday a Triumph
Everyday a Tragedy
Everyday a Celebration
Everyday a Challenge
We are Kings
Every day we are Kings

Hence...Everyday Kings

Respectfully Submitted,
King James
Founder, Everyday Kings

Brian Bentel
vocals

"Count Brian"
Brian comes to us from the semi-deep South, previously as lead singer of Cross Eyed Jack. We invited him to audition after he stopped over and asked us for directions to the nearest hookah lounge. He mentioned something about sociology...or that he was a sociopath...it all seems so fuzzy now... ]:-|

Al Sumner
drums / vocals

"Prince Albert"
Al has been performing live music since 1994, as rhythm guitarist in The Fuchsia Boys, BFS, and Play For Beer Band, drummer in Blame It On Cain, and drummer/lead singer in Bottom On Top and guitarist/lead singer in Breaded Fish. Before music, he devoted three years to performing stand-up comedy. His primary instrument is a Tama Swingstar drum kit.

When not inciting insurrections, Al tries - usually unsuccessfully - to be the comic relief of the band. ]:-|

Steve Draganchuk
guitars / vocals

"Sir Stephen"
Steve has been performing in original rock bands since 1991, including such groups as Twelve, Phigment, Brother Jupiter, Brooklyn Shea, Blame It On Cain, and the Play For Beer Band. His primary weapon of choice is an Ernie Ball guitar plugged into a Jet City amp.

Steve is the musical soul of the Everyday Kings, bringing more musical ideas to the group than the other three knuckleheads combined. He is also a gifted videographer and editor, as evidence by the videos that grace this web site. ]:-|

Robert Chorny
bass / vocals

"Doctor Robert"
Robert has been in bands since 1988, including (but not limited to) 9 Weeks, Bottom On Top, Breaded Fish, and, most recently, Corruptable. He prefers his Rickenbacher 4003, unless his Hofner B-bass sounds better on a given track. His amp of choice is a Gallien-Krueger Backline 600. ]:-|
